Little Rebel Cheerleading is a youth cheerleading program for all girls entering 1st-6th grade, who are residents of Vestavia Hills, or non-residents who attend a Vestavia Hills School. Little Rebel Cheerleading encourages teamwork and cooperation, as well as learning techniques of cheering, dance and jumps.
We cheer for both Jefferson/Shelby Youth Football League and Over The Mountain Football League. Cheer squads are typically divided into squads of no more than 15 girls of the same grade. Each girl will choose the squad that is within their grade level and on the night of their choice (of the options made available). Squads are typically made of girls from either 1. East and West 2. Central 3. Liberty Park/Cahaba Heights Elementary 4. Liberty Park Middle and Pizitz. However, a girl may choose to cheer on a squad within her grade level but with another school other than the one she attends.
Their season typically begins the first week of September and runs through the end of October with playoffs extending into mid-November. Squads cheer one night per week during the season on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday nights at either 6:00 or 7:15 (the night they sign up for). Typically, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades will cheer at the earlier time and 4th, 5th and 6th grade cheering at the later time. However, this is not guaranteed. Squads will cheer for both football leagues on the night they have chosen with the team varying each week. The squad will practice one time per week beginning in July/August, dates and times vary by squad. Squads are fun by volunteer squad leaders and assistant squad leaders. Each squad must have a volunteer to lead the squad before practices can take place. Little Rebel Cheerleading will provide all squad moms with sample cheers, a basic dance routine and information on how to lead a squad. No previous cheerleading experience is required to lead a squad.
We have a summer camp at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center on July 27th (1st – 3rd grade) and July 28th (4th – 6th grade). This camp is not mandatory but is included in your regular registration fee. UCA Cheerleaders will be leading camp and will be fun for everyone!
There is a cheer competition in November that is voluntary and be determined on a squad by squad basis. Your squad leader will get with each of you when the time comes.
